Erzberg Rail and winter sport museum

You can find the Erzberg railway museum in the old town railway station.  There are plans, documents and historical artifacts from the construction of the railway from Vordernberg over the Präbichl to Eisenerz. Here you can also find a rack rail system, a steam engine and other items of interest.

Winter sports have been popular in this district for over 100 years and a part of the museum is set aside for interesting items and stories, honoring   legends like Zdarsky and Bilgeri, pioneers of the ski industry. There are skis from 1892 on display as well as the oldest skiing emblem of the Alpine countries and many more artifacts of historical value.

The worlds most powerful rack rail steam engine (297.401) is in front of the old town railway station.
