Welcome to Vordernberg

A hearty Styrian “Glück-Auf” in the historical town of Vordernberg

Vordernberg is situated on the beautiful  Styrian Iron Street (Eisenstrasse). You are invited to spent some time wandering in the days of Archduke Johann, walk in the past and among the treasures of the industrial revolution. In those days the skies here were darkened by the smoke billowing from the fourteen charcoal fuelled smelters, producing iron and making our town one of the most prosperous of its day. The Archduke himself owned two iron mills and spent some of his time living and working here.  On the main square there is a marvellously constructed and beautifully designed  wroth iron canopy (Hammer Lords Well) build in 1668 protecting the town’s main well and water supply.
